DiaClamp®-base unit
The base unit of DiaClamp® forms the central structural and functional module of the clamping system. It provides the mechanical interface to the machine tool's zero-point clamping system and ensures precise positioning of the two interchangeable cassettes. Despite its weight-optimised design, the unit impresses with its high rigidity and vibration damping, which are essential for the reliable machining of complex workpieces.
The base unit of the DiaClamp® system contains:
- the interface to the machine tool's zero-point clamping system,
- precisely defined mountings for the pair of interchangeable cassettes,
- a highly rigid, weight-optimised design for maximum process stability
The geometry of the base unit is designed for maximum accessibility for machining tools, probes and sensors. It thus supports full integration into automated production cells in accordance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (EU) 2023/1230, particularly with regard to the reduction of manual intervention, functional safety and digital process capability.
The geometry of the DiaClamp is optimised for accessibility for:
- Machining tools
- Measuring probes
- Sensors (in future)
this is essential for automated processing and inspection processes.
Two pneumatic valves are integrated for manual operation: one for cleaning the contact surfaces, the other for activating the roof support.
Manual and automated operation
- Cleaning of the contact surfaces
- Roof support for workpiece stabilisation
A customised robot interface enables the automated handling system to perform repeatable, collision-free and process-oriented manufacturing sequences.
The base unit also contains the precision-mounted guide and bearing for the drive spindle for the linear movement of the clamping head. The low-friction spindle kinematics ensure controlled, torque-monitored clamping of the workpiece.
Standards reference & conformity
- MVO 2023/1230: Meets requirements for functional safety, risk minimisation, automation and tamper protection.
- ISO 12100 & ISO 8015: Supports safe, repeatable and dimensionally accurate workpiece clamping in accordance with geometric product specification (ISO / GPS).
